not as good as expected September 11, 2008 Not as good as expected. Had to go to Motorola help line to get it to work. It would just freeze up when using. Had to make some modifications to sowftware that wasn't explained in the original purchase
Not bad but lots of updates August 26, 2008 With the price of this software you can't go wrong if you have a Razr phone. Just be ready to spend some time getting updates. I lost count after 7-8 version updates, it took about an hour to run all the updates since, unfortunately, some of them required a computer reboot. If you have a locked phone (such as those from Verizon or Alltel) you probably won't be able to upload any ringtones you create to your phone, but I am able to upload address books and calendar info from Outlook, sound files and pictures, as well as backup your phone files. Again, worth the price, but you might not be able to use all of the software's capability.
Software stinks July 28, 2008 1) The install software is very flaky - bogus messages and windows that fail to close ... and very slow on windows 2000 where the install limped to an indefinite finish. 2) Windows XP warned, after the install was underway, that this software could well be bogus, not XP approved, and could cause big trouble. I decided to abort, but couldn't cancel and had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill the install. I wonder if this is legit Motorola software - the CD label seems kind of crude - matching the contents. 3) All in all: disappointing. "you get what you pay for" and the price matched the performance in this case. But I wonder if this is all that's available. 4) I just wanted to be able to use my PC USB port to charge the 'phone ... and hoped that all I'd have to do is plug it in without "phone tools" ... nope!
DISAPPOINTED July 16, 2008 My laptop Windows XP did not recognize the Motorola disk. Neither did any of my Macs = G3 (OS 9.2) or G4 or DuoCores (OS 10.4). Too bad. I'm not about to pay Motorola a fee for emailing each photo.
Good and cheap..... I mean inexpensive. June 23, 2008 I needed a tool to save my contact list on my Razr and to allow me to transfer it when I upgraded my Moto phone. I also wanted to be able to add names and numbers without using texting techniques. I checked around and found that the Phone Tools software was ideal. It was created by Moto so it should work fine. I checked Amazon and found it for a low, low price. I would never purchase software that was not legitimate nor would I ever not pay the fees required by the maker. The price was so low that I was concerned that it was some black market thing but I figured that since I was buying from Amazon and not E-Bay (for example) that I was fine. They stand behind their products. When I received PhoneTools it was indeed perfect. Installation was simple and everything connected as it should. In knew that since I had a Verizon phone, I could not use the multimedia features in phone tools but that was a Verizon thing and not a software problem. I even got yet another connector cable to add to my collection of common cables that I have far too many of but can't bring myself to throw away. For the money, nobody should be without this software. If you use it only to back up your phone list, it's well worth the price. If you are on a non-Verizon network and can load pix and sounds and such, it is even more valuable.
